ABOUT LATIN PARTNERS

Latin Americans can make a tremendous contribution to the church in Britain and Ireland.  Their Christian life has developed in an atmosphere of vibrant faith and love, enthusiastic worship, spontaneous evangelism and expectation of church growth.  Those who take their faith seriously have good doctrinal teaching and live a sincere devotional life, with a strong emphasis on intercession and the ideal of living a life that is morally distinct.

As our society becomes more secular we increasingly need to communicate our faith effectively within the context of our relationships.  Latin Americans find personal evangelism much more natural than many in our UK churches.  In Latin Partners' our experience Latin Americans find considerable rapport with Asians.  Apart from their physical appearance, political neutrality and common experience of being non-white, there is a lot of common ground in their respective cultures, such as the value given to the extended family.

Latin Partners is the part of Latin Link that provides mission opportunities for Latin Americans in Britain.  Some of the team members are working in long-term ministry in the UK with ethnic minorities and others are here for 6 months to 2 years of practical training, experience and improvement in fluency in English before they move on to long-term ministry in another country.  We don’t set up our own teams, we place selected people within the ministry teams of local churches.

WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE LATIN PARTNERS CAN OFFER YOU

We focus on helping people who have already had a considerable Bible training, missionary training and ministry experience in their own country.  Most of the people we help have already been accepted as missionaries by recognised mission sending agencies in their own country, such as their own denomination’s mission department or an international agency such as WEC.  Those who haven’t, go through Latin Link’s acceptance process.  Most are over the age of 30.

Although most Latin Americans have experience in evangelism, many feel the need for further specialised experience in evangelistic work among people from other cultures.  Britain's multi-cultural society provides an excellent training ground.  Many also feel the need for a time of immersion to improve their fluency in English before moving on.

What better way for your church to build a link with a church overseas than by receiving, caring for and contributing to the worker whom they have sent.
